Ethylene propylene rubber (EPDM) is an amorphous polymer with a low glass transition temperature, used as a rubber material. It is also known as ethylene propylene diene rubber.
EPDM rubber is resistant to heat, oxidation, ozone, and weather conditions. It has good resistance to polar solvents such as acids, bases, alcohols, and ketones. It can be safely used in a temperature range of -40 °C to 150 °C. It shows good resistance to phosphate ester fluids, glycol-based brake fluids, steam, ozone, and atmospheric influences. However, it is not suitable for fuels and petroleum-based oils.
EPDM is commonly used in the production of part coatings, impact-resistant materials, hoses, and tubes.
